I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house -Nathaniel Hawthorne

Fall is officially in full swing and winter is already trying to weasel it’s way in. Friday, some friends and I drove through a blizzard to our campsite at Wonder Lake. Thankfully it wasn’t snowing where we were camping and the next day could only be described as a glorious fall day. The sun was shinning, there was a crispness to the air, and the blueberries were delicious. My time here at Denali will be ending sooner than I can believe and it’s weekends like this one, full of good weather and great friends, that will make it hard to leave.

The snow was actually sticking to the ground at Eielson.

We woke up to frost on our tent.

But then the sun came out and the clouds cleared and these campers woke up to this view of Denali:

I’ve discovered it’s impossible not to take hundreds of photos of the Mountain when she’s out.
